Husky Swimming Foundation Gala — December 5, 2013

The annual Husky Swim Gala, presented by the Husky Swimming Foundation, is approaching quickly and NOW is the time to make sure you get your invitation.  This year’s event will be held at 50 North, adjacent to University Village.

We have a great mailing list of over 600 names.  Do you know if you are on that list?  If not or if you want to make sure you get an invitation, call Mark Johnson, Director of Fundraising and Strategic Development, 206-250-8258.  And if you have great items to add to our silent auction, let us know.  Thanks to Mary Patterson, Genevieve Patterson and Kelly Corcoran for serving as our Event Committee.  Their efforts will guarantee the success of this year’s event.

The Gala is a great opportunity to bring ALL of the Northwest swimming community together while raising funds to bring varsity swimming back to the University of Washington.  Mark your calendars.

Announcement – Husky Swimming Foundation Hires Director of Development

The Husky Swimming Foundation hired Mark Johnson as its first Director of Fundraising and Strategic Development. The Husky Swimming Foundation was created to help support aquatic safety and swimming tradition in the Pacific Northwest.  One of its primary goals is to raise funds to provide an annual operating budget for an intercollegiate swimming program at the University of Washington, which cut its swimming programs. The Foundation, however, also is working towards building a new competition facility in the area, endowing scholarships for swimming at the University of Washington, as well as supporting age-group swimming all throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Johnson, a graduate of the University of Washington, will focus on executing the Foundation’s long-term plans and fostering donor relationships.   Johnson has plenty of experience in fundraising, having previously worked with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Church Council of Greater Seattle. “The Husky Swimming Foundation, through Mark’s work, is extremely excited about taking the next steps in helping our foundation grow in order to better fulfill our mission,” Husky Swimming Foundation president Brandon “BD” Brawz said.

The Board is also in the process of finalizing the details for our 2013 Gala (Dec 5th in Seattle). Mark it on your calendars as the swim community gathers to celebrate Husky Swimming!  We are hoping to offer a wide range of auction items, so if there is anything that you would like to donate, either goods or services, we’d appeciate it. Any suggestions to help make our auction more enjoyable are also welcome and encouraged.  Unique items that are hard to find anywhere else are most welcome!  For more information about donations, please contact Kelly Corcoran,

Thank You Swimmers and Volunteers

The board of the Husky Swimming Foundation wishes to thank you all the wonderful volunteers who helped make the 64th Husky Invite possible. Planning for the 2013 event is well underway, but we are always seeking volunteers from around the swim community to continue to make this event a roaring success.  Contact BD Drawz, or Ryan Stratton, for more information.
